On my way to school, I had a crash on my bike and got hurt pretty badly. I was racing down the block, trying not tobe late for school. Teacher told me that if I would be late one more time during the school year, I would be serving detention and missing recess for 3 days. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle that so I took off for school on my bike going for what seemed like 70 mph.In my fury to beon time, I was not paying attention to debris on the walk way and right before I knew what hit me, "crash," I fell smack onto the ground because my bike didn't warn me about the big rock that was in the middle of the pavement.

As I winced in pain while trying to hold back my salty tears, I tried to get up but couldn't because my knee was cut severely and was in a great deal of pain. Thankfully, a driving school bus that was empty was passing and slowly stopped to see me clutching my knee in agony.

The kind lady from the bus pulled over and took out her portable first aid kit and immediately began to administer to me. She spoke soothing words and asks me how did this crash happen. I told her that I was rushing to get to school so I wouldn't be late and she quietly scolded me for endangering myself the way I had.

After she patched me up, she let me call my mother on her cell phone to notify her of the accident. As we waited, she told me the importance of safety and how she had to abide by the rules of the road in order to keep others safe. She told me that she was required to take a driving practice test before she could receive her license to drive children to school. Those driving practice test were importantin order to prepare her for the dangers that being on the road can sometimes bring. Itold her I wish there were driving practice test for bikers and both she and I chuckled. As my mother pulled up worried but happy that I was okay, she thanked the bus driver for staying with me and offered to make her dinner later on that night. The lady bus driver took her up on her offer. Even though I ended up going to school really late, from that lady I had learned something. Haste makes waste and from now on, I will take my time and leave out early enough so I can prevent future accidents.
